Sonia Durrani

Lead Montessori Teacher

Spanish Language Teacher

Sonia Durrani

Sonia has been a lead Montessori teacher at The Children’s Workshop for the past 11 years. Immensely creative and incredibly talented, Sonia brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and, most importantly, joy to our school. The children love her and she cherishes each and every one of them. We are so fortunate to have her.

Sonia is originally from Chihuahua, Mexico, where she lived and studied throughout her childhood and early adult life. She received her bachelor’s degree in accounting from the Autonomous University of Chihuahua.

In 1999, Sonia moved to Boston and earned her Montessori Teacher Certification at the New England Montessori Teacher Education Center (NEMTEC). She has been a dedicated Montessori teacher for more than 20 years. It has been Sonia’s great joy to have lived and taught Montessori in many far-flung cities including London, England and Melbourne, Australia. The opportunity to teach in different countries has given her the skills to provide dynamic lessons, including Spanish language lessons, that make learning engaging and fun.

Not only is Sonia a lead Montessori teacher at our school, but she also teaches Spanish to our children. She believes that foreign languages give a unique and awesome perspective into the world. The value of learning a language extends beyond the ability to communicate with others, by providing countless neurological benefits and social advantages. Sonia also teaches Spanish after school hours at Hilltop Learning in Marblehead.
